“Pure Imagination” is a visual playground!
It is impossible to get bored looking at “Pure Imagination”!… in fact, the longer you spend looking at it, the better it is going to get :)
Come close… closer… like a foot away from the painting and you will see all the moments on the canvas that can only exist in the imagination… brushstrokes where two colors come together… where pencil meets oil paint… where the underpainting or canvas gesso shows through… all unique to an exact moment during creation, where nothing will be like it again.
“Pure Imagination” got its name partially from the song in Willy Wonka. i see this piece very much as chocolate factory, a never ending cornucopia of visual treats…

The name of this piece also came from how the painting was created, starting as a blank canvas straight from my imagination, which was a BIG first for me. Creatively, it was a monumental piece for me solely because of how it was created, straight from a place of pure imagination :)
inside the creative process
Every creative things i do almost always feels monumental, in both positive and challenging ways. There can be so many expectations about what each painting is going to become, a struggle between the in-the-moment creative flow and what you hope for. The mental struggle is real and the creative process can be very, Very uncomfortable, especially when you are creatively pushing yourself… something i Always do;)
There is a reason i intentionally pursue these challenges, because the reward is creating something truly unique from nothing… creating something Nobody has seen before!
Pure, no rules allowed, making something from nothing… Creation. i am so thankful i get to spend my life doing this :)
