the story of “gold purple Skull”
“Gold Purple Skull” represents the peak of abstraction in the series of four colored Skulls. The skull jaw form is heavily deconstructed where negative space and movement is accentuated. The palette knife techniques used in this painting emphasizes both the abstraction, as well as, the representationalism through the textural buildup of paint.
Unique to this painting is that it was created two years after the initial three colored Skulls giving it an artistic quality of its own. This painting is the most abstract and expressive painting in the series of four colored Skulls.
